Plasma Displays

Plasma display panels (PDP) are emissive flat panel displays where light is created by phosphors excited by a plasma discharge, effectively each pixel is made up of three fluorescent lights -- a red light, a green light and a blue light. Just like a CRT television, the plasma display varies the intensities of the different lights to produce a full range of colors. In this respect the colour rendition and brightness are similar to those produced by CRT displays, but with improved resolutionThe ability of a display to show the fine details in an image.

. Plasma screens are most commonly used as TVs or as computer monitors, their resolution matching that of the CRT monitors they replace.

Size has always been a challenge for large displays. For screens over 24", Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) technology is simply too heavy and bulky. LCD technology is flat and lightweight, but at present, screens over 20" can't be manufactured cost-effectively. Plasma is the perfect large screen technology. It allows screens to be flat - as little as 9 cm deep. It also allows them to be lightweight. So despite an enormous screen area, Plasma screens can be placed anywhere people need to see them - on the wall, from the ceiling, or even on a desktop. Plasma displays are readily available in sizes from 17inch up to 65inch in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

Plasma technology makes possible a totally flat screen, so images are clear and bright and easy to view from angles as great as 160 degrees in both horizontal and vertical directions. Since the picture can be seen clearly from up, down, left, or right, plasma displays are ideal for business presentations, public information displays, and more.

One of the biggest advantages of plasma technology is that it is completely immune to magnetic fields. Unlike conventional monitors, the plasma display does not use an electron beam, so its safe from the effects of magnetic fields, ensuring clear, noise-free image reproduction anywhere without colour or image distortion. This makes them ideal for use in any environment subject to electrical interference such as power generation facilities, factories, ships, railway stations, and hospitals. With their slim space-saving design and light weight, plasma displays can be installed in spaces where conventional displays would never fit. They can be hung from walls, suspended from ceilings, and even mounted vertically and used as digital posters carrying advertisements or art. This versatility allows plasma displays to be used everywhere from boutiques, art galleries, and video stores to banks, hospitals, and airports. Plasma delivers:
