Content Management Software

Most graphical displays show what is shown on the PC monitor, effectively becoming a large PC monitor themselves. One advantage of this is that you can use your favourite software or the applications that you are most familiar with to create the display layouts that you want to see.

Occasionally there may be a requirement for display layouts to be created, saved and redisplayed later either at a specified time or in a sequence with other display layouts. This can be difficult to accomplish using conventional PC software.

To meet this requirement Telefax is developing content management software to enable you to do precisely this. Display layouts may be created and saved and then redisplayed either manually on demand, at specified times in a schedule list or as part of a ‘playlist’. You can even schedule playlists so that they change throughout the day.

The items from which display layouts can be constructed include Static Text, Static Bitmap graphics, World Clock times, DDE links to Excel spreadsheet cells or other DDE server applications (either text or graphics), information from vendor interfaces (Telefax RMP) and screen captures from other PCs on the network (using a separate capture server application).

All items can be independently formatted allowing a choice of font, size, foreground/background colour and transparency, flashing on updating, shadow, border, justification and rotation. Additionally some formatting parameters are conditional, enabling the use of colour to differentiate falling prices from static or rising prices, etc. Items can be grouped so that they can be moved and/or formatted together.

Items can be ‘stacked’ on top of each other so that the last to update is shown, as each stacked item updates it comes to the front and hence is visible whilst the others ‘sink’ below it.

The screen capture facility uses a capture server application running on the PC (which must be on the same network) from which you wish to capture a section of the screen. You can select the location and size of the area that you want to capture and the interval between captures. The captured area is then sent to your display PC and can be incorporate into display layouts as required, the captured area then updates at the intervals specified.
